Chess is not all about winning. Chess is all about making choices. Important choices, that is....
On a checkered plane your pieces and your opponent's pieces stand to face each other - each trying to outdo the other. And while there are three possible outcomes - a win, a loss or draw - the best thing about the game of chess is this: you get to assemble the pieces again and start over.
Thus, chess mimicks life. But there is more to it than just mime.
A long, long time ago chess was a game of kings. Soon thereafter that all changed when people realized that you didn't have to be a king to play chess. All you needed to have was an opponent and a board with opposing armies of opposite color.
