2 new Eagles flying high

Above, new Eagle Scouts Grant Cherwenuk and Michael Kundrat, both of Shelton.
On Dec 14, Boy Scout Troop 28 presented the rank of Eagle at a Court of Honor ceremony to Scouts Grant Cherwenuk and Michael Kundrat.
For his Eagle service project, Kundrat, 18, the son of Joe and Cindy Kundrat of Shelton, led a team of Scouts removing garbage on Shelton’s open space, including the Shelton trails. Also part of the project was the installation of garbage cans along the trails.
Kundrat earned 30 merit badges and last served as the troop’s assistant senior patrol leader. A graduate of Shelton High School, he is a freshman at Southern Connecticut State University.
As his project, Cherwenuk, 18, the son of Les and Michelle Cherwenuk of Shelton, lead a team of Scouts who created a new walking trail at the Nicholdale open space. The project has a bridge over one of the streams and stone steps from the parking lot to the beginning of the trail.
Cherwenuk earned 27 merit badges and last served as the troop’s senior patrol leader. Also a Shelton High School graduate, he attends college in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada.
