Week 4- The Grand Illusion
While the Union 1150 braintrust makes the pilgrimage to Philadelphia in hopes of getting SIK to the actual bargaining table the picketing continues.
The protest rallys and pep rallys are over , now the true resolve/faith of the strikers will be tested. SIX WEEKS minimum was the warning by the union lawyer but people are nervous.
You would have to be deaf, dumb and blind not to realize that the flatbed trucks and vans going in and out are here for a reason. Fact: Connecticut is the 2nd most costly state in the U.S.A to do business. Whatever your stance is on the strike there can be no logical debate that eventually- if not already- jobs will not be eliminated.
Let's not be misled into thinking that this grandiose plan did not occur because of this strike. It's about politics and public opinion and there are sides as distinct as Hatfield and McCoy. Is it the big bad union running the company into the ground OR bottom line economics by UTC, or even a higher power? You decide.
Either way we all lose.

If I hear the comment " STAY STRONG" one more time, I think I'll throw up. Enough already! I'm going to need the health insurance for all the stress this strike has done to my body. I had a good job no wait,I had a Great job which may be gone because of this mess. I didnt vote for this strike and I did what was asked of me to show support for the Union. But NOW I'M ASKING for the same respect and support to let me go back to work without the harrassment, bulling or mob like tactics you all seemed to want to enforce. There are so many poeople who feel this way but are so afraid of all the bad repracustions that could follow. Please come up with something!!!!

As a salary worker asked to work in the shop, I just want to pass along that everything is fine and well. Although we expect your return soon, the overall business is good. There are work areas being eliminated and moved, weather or not you will have your same position is something you will need to wait and see. You will not be comming back to the same company you walked out on. It will better and leaner. As much as we work in the shop, I think we all expect a sound resoulution soon.

Why is it every time I check out the scab list...it is still growing smaller and there is only 2% of "scabs?" when the list is actually trippled and I know I've seen some line crossers inside that are not on the list. what is this union trying to hide from you?
Tell Rocco's lawyer that the contract is not about unfair labor practices anymore because they took away the alternate work week it is now about economics. My advice is to make a decision wisely....go back to work, I may have made the wall of shame but Rocco will not get on the "Hoffa hall of Fame" this is a loosing battle.
