    Oh, baby

Indeed, Joey MacDonald's wife is having the baby, so the goalie has headed home for a few days. Mike Mole is in town in the meantime, and it looks like Mike Morrison will get a chance to play at least one game.

    All else status quo.

Atlanta has reportedly fired Bob Hartley after an 0-6 start. We should send our Western Conference correspondent to ask John Anderson about this.

Dave Scatchard, who'd been skating with the Rangers, signed a PTO with Hartford. Martin St. Pierre came back from Russia and is with Rockford; he scored on the power play last night at San Antonio. Dean Arsene could be out until January, Tim Leone reports. Marc Cavosie signed with Columbia (ECHL). And no sooner did he come back to North America than Daniel Tkaczuk left again for Germany, where he'll be teammates with Dustin VanBallegooie. ObFunWithBabelfish: "It has four years European driving, can the play read and is well in the Powerplay."

The BST and the American Cancer Society have "Pink Rink Night" set for Sunday, Nov. 4, against Norfolk. There are $15 tickets available through the team (334-4625), with proceeds benefiting ACS's "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer." Bunch of other things going on that day to support ACS, too.

One more: The OHL named AHL ref Conrad Hache its director of officiating.

And after 16 years, I am no longer on Microsoft Works for Windows 2.0 (except for database files, which still work somehow on Vista). It feels very weird. Especially with this auto-complete stuff. Annoying as heck.

Do you think we will see Sean Bates for a conditioning assignment?

And then they can include him in the next version of the Born in Bridgeport video!

That was clutch, Andy. I haven't heard anything about Bates coming here, though.

Would be interesting to see Shawn come to Bridgeport.

According to the Islander website, Bates has been cleard to play and is traveling with the team to Washington, but they still want to wait a week for him to put him in the line up. So let's see if he ends up in Bridgeport for conditioning.
