And THAT'S why you always leave a note

    (Why won't my shirts dry?)

Another free agent is out: Colton Fretter signed with Buffalo. Hope he gets a good crack in Portland... where... well, here's why I didn't want to put Portland on the chart. Kevin Dineen appears to be sticking around the Bucs.

Meanwhile, Danny Bylsma officially got the WBS job, as seemed to be expected out there.

Jon asked about a preseason schedule; AFAIK they're still firming up some dates and a location, but there should probably be three games that first weekend after they come home, Oct. 3-5 or so. That'll probably come soon.

Good wishes to John Van Boxmeer for a quick recovery.

Greg Prince dissects -- or is it eviscerates -- the "75 Greatest Moments at Shea" poll. (There are better moments at Shea -- several, in fact -- but the therein-referenced "Melvin Mora Game," Oct. 3, 1999, is the most fun I have ever had at a sporting event. Probably all the better because I hadn't been supposed to be there.) You want Manny Ramirez stuff? Who better than Ken Levine.

And finally, RIP, Alexander Solzhenitsyn and Skip Caray.

Thanks Mike. I guess I was just surprised that with an affiliation change, the team would not take the coach to their new location.

Good for Kevin, I bet Buffalo will be happy he is sticking around to help with their young players.

Much can happen when your contract is up.

I Guess the Baja Men singing Who Let the Dogs Out before (I think) game 3 of the 2000 World Series just missed the cut!

Nice Arrested Development reference in the title!
    I miss that show.
