    While stirring up dust

Ah, the stuff I find in corners:

Three Amigos: Sonar, Buddy and Screech

    Those poor horses.

So Rockford turns to Bill Peters to succeed Mike Haviland. All he has done is win a Memorial Cup.

Former Lowell Devil (ahem) Richard Matvichuk got an invite to Columbus camp.

Very glad that project is done. My mind freed up, it is back to its normal, sick ways: I was waiting for autos results from Riverhead Raceway. Went to Google Maps to try to find the raceway. (Didn't.) Started chasing moraines. Out to Noman's Land, which I had never really noticed out there before. On to the Vineyard. And on to Nantucket. Popped over to Wikipedia (dangerous) for an overview. And therein is a reference to mythopoeia, particularly as regards limericks -- "(some of which are vulgar)." Two things: 1) My quoting the word "mythopoeia" means I have clearly gone too far; 2) Some*?

Meanwhile, I've got to get myself out to Riverhead sometime. Haven't knocked out a three-digit interstate since January (finished off I-287, completing it with the segment from the Turnpike to I-78, on the Philly-to-Albany run). I am actually closer to knocking out the other local I-495; I just have to go from Lowell to Providence. (Can the league help me out with that one? Just scrap whatever you've got, no matter that it's due out this week, and... It can be in the other direction, too.) I actually need I-291 and I-384 and I-395 in Connecticut. Road-geekery begins at home...

OK, day off tomorrow, then on to another project.

And finally, wake me up when Brett Favre makes a decision.

*-EDIT: I really shouldn't do this

There once was a man from Nantucket
Was built like a young Kirby Puckett
    His brother was tall
    So he played basketball
    Resembling the young Walter Luckett

Our buddy, the guy from Nantucket
When he saw a clam, he would shuck it
    It struck him one day
He should do it for pay
"If this be the trend, I should buck it"

So then our good friend from Nantucket
When he saw a clam? He would huck it
    The clammers would hide them
    Or woe would betide them
Their business plan? Up he would muck it

They'd go at our man in Nantucket
Demanding a fight, but he'd duck it
But his strike left him stricken
    He moved on to chicken
When he sees a chicken? He'll pluck it

Well, that'll force the average down, if nothing else. Well, yeah, there's nothing else.

    Mike,

I noticed that you do not have the Portland/Iowa teams on your coaching list. Can you put them on as well and update when you find out?

Posted by: Jeff at August 3, 2008 6:18 AM

As noted earlier, those positions technically haven't changed yet. (Although the league may well be counting Iowa as an entirely new franchise, based on the Lowell precedent, but I probably wouldn't count it that way here.) So I'm holding out until they do. I'd rather put them on than take them off.

When will the AHL schedule be released? Some of us were thinking it will be this coming week.

Posted by: Lori at August 3, 2008 6:20 PM

That is the presumption. There had been hope that it might have made it out last week. But everything waits for the NBA, mostly.

Mike, while this is premature, I was wondering if you've heard of a pre-season schedule for the tigers...

Breaking News - WBS Penguins name Dan Bylsma as the new head coach. No assistants named.

TEST - blog's down. If it persists, check the Lifeboat late tonight/early tomorrow.
