RIP, Roy Boe
The Sound Tigers' founder and first president died Sunday morning after a long illness. He was 79.
Besides bringing the Sound Tigers to Bridgeport, he brought the IceCats to Worcester, the Islanders to the Island, and the Nets to the NBA.
Edit: We'll have lots more in the paper, obviously, but should have mentioned earlier that a memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 661 Old Post Road in Fairfield.
Edit2: The AHL issued a statement about Boe's passing. The Islanders are expected to have a statement today as well.

Mr. Boe was always extremely friendly to the fans of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the early years, and very excited about the prospect of their successes. One of my fondest memories is of Mr. Boe's treat of the movie "Miracle" to Sound Tiger season ticket holders along with the team, and his stories of his friendship with Herb Brooks. God bless Mr. Boe, and of course Todd and his family. How much fun the Boe years were!

Deepest sympathy to Todd and his family. Roy was one of the nicest and easiest guys around and absolutely loved to talk hockey even after he sold the team. He was definitely one of a kind. RIP Roy, you will be greatly missed.
