Hockey heaven
Saturday was a good day to be a hockey fan. More to the point, it was a good day to be a Philadelphia Flyers fan.
Getting up early; taking the train into Grand Central; catching a cab to Madison Square Garden. The effort was all worthwhile as the Flyers laid a butt-kicking on the hated New York Rangers.
And when your team is as bad as the Flyers have been this year, you take any victory you can get.
To top off my hockey day in the city, I headed over to the Parkside Lounge on the Lower East Side to see The Zambonis entertain at a post-hockey tournament party. Rock songs about hockey, a fitting end to the day.
If you haven't seen the band before, your next chance will be March 25 when The Zambonis give a post-Sound Tigers game performance on the ice at the Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport. Bring your skates and you can hit the ice while the band plays.
What's better than that?
Oh yeah, the Flyers whipping the Rangers.
