    Amanda's TV Diary

    Hey all,
Sorry I've been away so long. I've been swamped with a bunch of stuff (like scuba diving, hanging out with clowns, etc.), and haven't been able to get to the blog. But I'm back, and hopefully I'll be able to be more regular with my post. I'm starting a new feature called TV diary, in which I'll post daily notes on my favorite shows and my thoughts and observations on same.
Now, by daily, I don't necessarily mean everyday. I actually mean "whenever I can remember to do it." And now, my thoughts on Monday's offerings.

Prison Break: Ok, lots of things happened on Monday's episode of "Prison Break." Michael discovered that Mahone killed his elusive prey Oscar Shales. Lincoln and LJ got caught. C-Note found his family. Bellick and his flunkie (what is that dude's name, anyway?) caught up with T-Bag. And both Sarah and Mahone broke Michael's code and decided to look for him in New Mexico. But, most importantly, the great Callie Thorne cameoed as Mahone's ex! Thorne, of course, is best known to "Rescue Me" fans as Tommy's lunatic sometimes-girlfriend Sheila (or, as I like to call her, Crazy Freakin' Sheila). She didn't have much to do on the "PB," but she did look fab, rocking her all-dark, "Homicide" era hair. So much better than those awful blonde streaks she wears as Sheila! Ok, I'm getting all girly now. Best to move on...
Heroes: Soooo....is Nikki evil? Or part evil? Is she dead? Or did her ex simply yank out one of her personalities? And, if so, was it the good one or the bad? So many questions! But, unlike, say "Lost," it's possible that "Heroes" will answer at least some of those questions in the near future. That's one of the great things about the NBC drama, my second favorite new show of the year (the first is ABC's hilarious "Knights of Prosperity," which is supposed to debut in January. Fingers crossed).
My only complaint? Where was Greg Grunberg (formerly of "Alias") who plays mind-reading cop Matt? He's been in short supply. I love Grunberg and his character has lots of potential. More, please.
Friday Night Lights: When I first saw the pilot for this rural NBC drama about a Texas high school football team, I was lukewarm on it. But great reviews (and the fervent urging of boyfrined -- who is OBSESSED with it) persuaded me to take another look during it's special airing last night (it usually airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m.).
I must say, I've been converted. The show doesn't feel like a scripted drama at all. The photography and authentic performances give it an almost documentary feel.
Plus, you actually care about this characters. When the last scene ended on a cliffhanger (would the Panthers be stripped of their latest victory?), I was left breathless.
The show's on life support, so check it out while you still can.
Ok, that's all. Join me tomorrow, when I offer my thoughts on today's TV offerings, including "Veronica Mars." That is, if I feel like it.
