    Six Degrees: Please Watch

I guess I'm not surprised that no one is watching the charming ABC drama "Six Degrees." After all, it has no really "hook." It's just a simple story about a bunch of people in Manhattan whose lives collide in ways that are sometimes contrived, sometimes interesting. But I love it, mainly because of the excellent cast.

Most impressive are Hope Davis, as a kind but wounded widow, and Campbell Scott, as a brilliant photographer trying to fix his past mistakes. Whenever either is onscreen, the show is riveting. Even when they're not, it's frothy, fun and sexy enough to entertain. I hope it stays with us just a little longer.
    In other viewing news....
"My Name is Earl": Is it just me, or is this show always too short? Last night's episode was funny and cute, with Roseanne Barr giving a nice, surprisingly understated performance as an angry trailer park manager. But I wanted more. More Joy. More Crabman. More of Randy and Earl and their discomfort at expressing their brotherly love. More, more, more!
"Ugly Betty": So, I missed a couple of episodes. When did Amanda become human? Anyway, in bigger news, the show's executive producer Salma Hayek guest starred last night, as a saucy editor at Mead's new sister publication. Clearly, there's chemistry between her and Daniel. I hope this gives Daniel a little more to do. Eric Mabius, who plays the role, is charismatic and funny, but is constantly overshadowed by the show's flashier characters....
